Wayne David

Member of Parliament for Caerphilly

Caerphilly County Borough Council - 19 December 2012

Wayne David welcomes Council's salary re-think.

Wayne David, MP for Caerphilly, has welcomed the decision by Caerphilly Council’s Labour Group to recognise that the decision to increase the salaries of the Council’s senior staff was wrong.

He has also welcomed the decision to examine whether it is legally possible to reverse the authority’s initial decision.

Wayne David said, “I am very pleased that the Council’s Labour Group has recognised the strength of feeling amongst the general public and Council employees. I had received many emails from constituents who were extremely concerned about the decision. I shared their concern.

“I am sure that if it is legally possible to reverse the initial decision, it will be reversed. The Labour Group, having listened to the people, must now begin the urgent task of rebuilding the confidence and trust of the people of the Caerphilly Borough”.
