Wayne David MP, member of Labour’s Shadow Justice team, condemns G4S and Serco over allegations of overcharging on electronic monitoring contracts.

Following the revelations that G4S and Serco have allegedly overcharged the Government by millions of pounds, Wayne David has called for the Government to take “robust” measures.

Wayne David said, “It is vitally important that the police and the Serious Fraud Office are brought in and that there is a full-scale investigation. Both of these companies receive hundreds of millions of pounds through contracts with government and local authorities and it is essential that there is a proper and independent audit.”

Mr David also said that it was essential that the Government’s plans to privatise the Probation Service are stopped. “Both of these companies are in the running for extremely lucrative contracts and people are understandably concerned that these companies might put at risk the safety of communities”
