Response to announcement by Leader of Caerphilly County Borough Council that he is to stand down

Keith Reynolds

Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, has responded to the decision of Keith Reynolds to stand down from the leadership of Caerphilly County Borough Council and not seek re-election as a councillor for the Aberbargoed Ward.

Wayne David said "Caerphilly Council is one of the best local authorities in Wales, providing good quality services and value for money. The proposed very small increase in the council tax in Caerphilly is, in large part, due to Keith's sound and determined leadership.

“He will be missed as Leader of the Council - and the people of Aberbargoed in particular will miss him. Local government will be without someone who has enormous commitment and experience."
