Wayne David backs Council move on living wage - 26 July 2012

Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, has given his full support to Caerphilly County Borough Council’s move towards introducing the living wage for 3,000 of its employees who are on the lowest pay scales

The Labour-led Council is planning to agree a living Wage of £7.20 an hour from October of this year.  Amongst the 3,000 employees who will benefit are cleaners and domestic assistants, lunch-time supervisors and kitchen assistants.

Wayne David said, "This is excellent news.  It shows that this Labour-led Council is on the side of ordinary people.  This move is in sharp contrast to the attitude of Plaid Cymru who ran the Council until May of this year."
