Wayne David MP backs drop-in centre for children with disabilities

Sponsored walk and wheelchair push

Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, has taken part in a sponsored walk and wheelchair push from Abertridwr to Llanbradach to help raise funds for a new drop-in centre in Llanbradach for children with disabilities.

The sponsored event was organised by Diya’s Charity Foundation and the aim is to raise £1 million.  The drop-in centre will be for children in Abertridwr, Llanbradach and Bedwas.  The event attracted well over 50 people and children, some walking and some in wheelchairs.  After arriving at Llanbradach Community Centre, the participants joined in a fun day.  Here there was a bouncy castle, disco, live music, a hog roast and face-painting.

Wayne David said, “My wife and I were delighted to take part in this sponsored walk and wheelchair push.  It was great to see so many people and children out raising funds for this most worthwhile initiative.  There is no doubt that a special drop-in centre for children with disabilities would be a huge boost for the locality and I hope that as many people as possible will help to raise funds so that it comes about.”
