Caerphilly MP will give pay increase to charity

House of Commons

Wayne David Labour MP for Caerphilly, has reaffirmed his promise to give the proposed MPs’ pay increase to charity.

A number of months ago Mr David said that it was wrong for the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) to award MPs a 10% salary increase when many people were facing a cost of living crisis.  If IPSA proceed with this increase and the extra money is paid into Mr David’s bank account, he has said that he will pass this money on to Cancer Research UK.

Wayne David said “When many of my constituents are struggling to make ends meet and have received small or no salary increases, it is indefensible for MPs to be given a 10% increase in their salaries.  This is a commitment I made some months ago and I intend to keep my promise.”
