Caerphilly Constituency Labour Party has presented a Long Service Award to Pam Baldwin of Nelson for 50 years of service to the Labour Party and Labour movement.

A special lunch, attended by local Party members, was held in the Caerphilly Rugby Club and the Long Service Award was presented to Pam by Wayne David MP.  The event was organised by Councillor Barbara Jones, who also paid tribute to Pam’s outstanding work.

Wayne David said that Pam had been Chair of the Caerphilly Constituency Labour Party for 15 years and through her work with the trade unions, NALGO and then UNISON, she had made a massive contribution over many years to the wider Labour movement.  Wayne read out a letter from Christina Rees MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Wales, in which Christina thanked Pam for her work for Welsh Labour over many years and Hefin David AM also thanked Pam for her work.

At the lunch Wayne David said “Pam has been an excellent Chair of our local Labour Party.  She has been firm, but always fair and given good leadership for all of the 15 years she has been in the chair.  We wish Pam well and pay tribute to her unwavering commitment and loyalty to the Labour Party and all that it stands for”.
