Caerphilly MP Wayne David is joining Caerphilly AM Hefin David to set up a regneration forum for Bargoed

Caerphilly MP Wayne David and Caerphilly AM Hefin David will establish a regeneration forum at a meeting in the Bargoed Town Hall on Friday 22 March.

The meeting will be chaired by Wayne David and will be attended by the local AM, Hefin David, by local borough and town councillors and local tradespeople. Officials from the Welsh Government will also be present.

The meeting will be held from 10am to 11:30am. Opening remarks will be from Wayne David and Hefin David and Cllr Sean Morgan, Caerphilly CBC Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration. The meeting will hear from council officers about the regeneration work that has been done to date and what is planned for the future. Importantly, the meeting will hear from local people and business people about what they believe is now required.

Wayne David said, “Bargoed has seen a significant effort being made to regenerate the town centre. But clearly much more needs to be done. It is my view that fresh impetus needs to be given to the regeneration process so that Bargoed is once again a prosperous town. Hopefully, this meeting will lead to the creation of a forum which will, collectively, give a fresh drive to rejuvenate the town centre”.

Hefin David said, “It’s important that residents, local traders and elected representatives work together to get Bargoed back in business. The Welsh Government’s focus on the ‘everyday’ economy, those locally based goods and services that we all need and use, can help enable this.”
