Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly Working hard for the people of the Caerphilly constituency
Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, has sent a submission to Caerphilly County Borough Council strongly opposing the planning application to build up to 650 houses on Gwern Y Domen in Caerphilly.
In a thousand word paper Mr David sets out why he hopes that the planning application will be rejected. Amongst Mr David’s concerns are:
a) the likely congestion to be caused on local roads which will be generated by a large new estate,
b) the uncertainty whether the developer will build sufficient affordable homes,
c) the hugely negative impact which the development will have on a greenfield site, and
d) the contribution which the development will make towards an unbalanced development of the Caerphilly constituency with people moving from the north to an increasingly congested south.
Wayne David said “I have studied the planning application submitted by Persimmon Homes and PMG Limited and I have no doubt that the application should be rejected. Gwern Y Domen is a beautiful area of green fields and having so many houses in this location will have a negative impact on the road structure of Caerphilly basin. There is a strong public opposition to this development and the people are right – this planning application needs to be rejected”.
