Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly Working hard for the people of the Caerphilly constituency
Wayne David, MP for Caerphilly, is encouraging young people in his Caerphilly constituency to enter the Royal Navy’s Naval Engineering competition. The Royal Navy is asking young people to design a vessel that can rescue 1,000 people from the sea. Prizes for the best designs are worth up to £1,000.
The Royal Navy is regularly involved in delivering humanitarian aid throughout the world. This often includes rescuing large numbers of people from the sea.
The Royal Navy is encouraging young people to become a ‘Naval Engineer’ by submitting an innovative design. Schools are being asked to download the information pack from www.uknest.org
Mr David joined members of HMS Westminster at the competition’s launch in the House of Commons.
Wayne David said, “As a Shadow Defence Minister I know that the Royal Navy is a force for good in the world. It does a great deal of work in delivering humanitarian aid and rescuing people in distress. I urge all young people in the Caerphilly constituency to enter their ideas and designs for a naval rescue ship. There are good prizes available and it is possible that one of the designs may be adopted and help to save the lives of thousands of people.”
