Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, has received a petition from residents from William Street and Cross Street in Abertridwr.  The residents are concerned about dangerous driving and ‘excessive’ parking.

Mr David received a petition with over 30 names and was photographed with local residents and their children, who had made two posters to highlight their case.

The residents told Mr David that they were subjected to ‘boy racers’ in the street and there was a real danger to children being struck.  There was also a huge amount of parking in the street from those who were collecting takeaways from the main street.

Mr David agreed to press Caerphilly County Borough Council to consider introducing a one-way system for the street, with access only, and traffic calming measures.  Mr David also said he would press Caerphilly Council to have Residents Only Parking on at least one side of the street.

After the meeting, Wayne David said, "Clearly local residents feel very strongly about the situation.  I very much hope that the Council will listen to people’s concerns and introduce measures to make the road safer and far less congested".
