Wayne David has met with Angela Rippon in Westminster and pledged to take action to support people living with dementia.
Mr David joined other Parliamentarians at an Alzheimer’s Society event to meet people with the condition. Angela Rippon was there in her role as an Alzheimer’s Society ambassador.
There are currently 850,000 people living with dementia across the UK and based on current trends this figure is expected to rise to 2 million by 2051.
Speaking after the event Wayne David said, “Dementia is one of the greatest challenges facing this country. There are around 1,000 people in the Caerphilly constituency who are currently living with dementia and that figure is set to rise in the future. It is an issue we absolutely cannot afford to ignore. We all have a part to play in improving the lives of people living with the condition”.
