Bronwen Morgan

Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, has “warmly welcomed” the announcement that there is to be an inquiry into the scandal of contaminated blood. The announcement was made in the House of Commons and follows determined campaigning by victims and their families.

In June, Bronwen Morgan who is 15 years old and from Nelson, near Caerphilly presented a petition to No. 10 Downing Street calling for a public inquiry. Bronwen’s ‘father’ had died after having been given blood by the NHS which was contaminated.

Wayne David said “This announcement comes after a huge amount of campaigning. Only the other day Bronwen Morgan presented a petition to No. 10 and she and the other campaigners must be congratulated on their determination and persistence. The Government has finally conceded an inquiry; now we must ensure that it is as thorough and as comprehensive as possible”.

After the announcement Bronwen said “I am so pleased that the Government has now said there will be an inquiry. So many people died needlessly because of contaminated blood and we want to know how this was allowed to happen”.
