Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, has been appointed as a Shadow Foreign Office Minister by Keir Starmer, the new Leader of the Labour Party.

Mr David will be part of the team working with new Shadow Foreign Secretary, Lisa Nandy, and has been asked to have responsibility for the Middle East and North Africa.

Speaking after he was appointed, Wayne David said, “I am very pleased to be asked by Keir Starmer to return to Labour’s Frontbench and be a Shadow Minister for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Keir has assembled a strong frontbench team drawn from all parts of the Labour Party and I am looking forward to working with Lisa Nandy as our Shadow Foreign Secretary.

“Obviously, everyone’s priority is to do our best to help the country get through the Covid-19 crisis and to constructively hold the Government to account. But when the virus is finally controlled, there will be huge issues for us to address nationally and internationally. I hope to contribute to the development of that internationalist agenda.”
