Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, has presented a petition to Caerphilly County Borough Council about parking in Usk Road, Bargoed.

Wayne David has been approached by residents in Usk Road who are concerned about parking on their street by people who work close by.  This means that local people are unable to park on their street.

When Mr David previously approached the Council last March, he was told that a borough-wide examination of parking was due to take place.  They have promised that the situation on Usk Road would be considered as part of that examination.  However, because of Covid, this examination has not yet taken place.

Mr David has presented the petition to the Council, and in his letter to the Chief Executive Wayne David has asked that as soon as the examination recommences, consideration is given to the situation in Usk Road.  Suggestions have been made about teachers in St Gwladys’ Primary School and staff of the Citizens Advice Bureau having use of a nearby car park free of charge.  If this were to happen the issue of residents being unable to park would be solved.

Wayne David said “The car parking situation in Usk Road could be easily resolved but the Council need to examine the situation quickly and I hope that they will allow teachers from the local school and the CAB to use the car park by St Gwladys’ Church free of charge.  The situation is extremely annoying for local people; they should be able to park outside or at least close to their homes.  As things stand, often they cannot do this.  There is a solution and the Council need to move on this.”

Mr David is working closely with local borough councillor Dianne Price on this issue.
