Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, has signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s ‘Book of Commitment’ in the Houses of Parliament to pledge his commitment to supporting Holocaust Memorial Day. 

The signing of the book is a way of honouring those who were murdered during the Holocaust, as well as paying tribute to the extraordinary Holocaust survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people today.

Holocaust Memorial Day falls on the 27th of January every year, the anniversary of the liberation of the infamous former Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1945. Mr David has previously visited the site of the camp, which is where the largest mass murder in history took place.

After signing the Book of Commitment, Wayne David MP said, “Holocaust Memorial Day is an important opportunity for people from the Caerphilly constituency to reflect on the darkest times in modern European history.

“As we move further away from the Holocaust, it becomes ever more important that we take time to remember what happened to ensure such a tragedy will never unfold again. Holocaust Memorial Day is a way for people to reflect on the lessons of the past and to look at how we can build a more tolerant, inclusive, and safer future”.
