Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, has visited students from Lewis School Pengam, Lewis Girls’ School and Hendredenny Park Primary, as well as residents of HC-One operated ‘Parklands’ care home, to celebrate UK Parliament Week 2023.

Mr David answered tough questions from secondary school pupils on the House of Lords, Labour party policy and devolution, with students at Lewis School Pengam providing their insight and thoughts in an open conversation on the UK Government’s XL Bully ban.

At Hendredenny Park Primary, Year 5 learnt more about the role of a Member of Parliament, what they do for their job, and the history of Westminster and the House of Commons.

Mr David said “It was brilliant to visit a selection of schools and other organisations during UK Parliament Week 2023. Talking about politics, Parliament, and why it is all so important helps those of all ages to learn more about how to help shape the future. I am pleased that we had plenty of sign-ups this year after last year’s success, and I hope that others will consider getting involved next time”.

UK Parliament Week is an annual event aiming to spread the word about what Parliament is, what it does, and why politics is important.
