Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, has co-hosted an event in the House of Parliament on behalf of the UK’s leading migraine charity, The Migraine Trust.

At the event, which is part of the Trust’s campaign to improve migraine care for people across the UK, a new toolkit for Members of Parliament was launched. As someone who suffers from occasional migraines, Mr David was pleased to work with The Migraine Trust in contributing to the toolkit.

The Migraine Trust toolkits provide Members of Parliament with information including background details on what migraines are and the impact they can have on people, as well as information to MPs support constituents who come forward facing issues connected to their migraine care or other issues such as employment.

Around one in seven people live with migraines. Migraines are much more than headaches. They are severe and painful long-term brain condition, triggering attacks that can be a whole-body experience, and can disrupt work and personal lives. However, the condition is still often stigmatised and neglected by local health systems.

Wayne David said, “I was pleased to co-host this important event in the House of Commons on behalf of The Migraine Trust. I was delighted that so many of my Parliamentary colleagues came along to speak to volunteers with The Migraine Trust to find out about their personal experiences of living with the condition.

“With around one in seven people living with migraines, it is likely that everyone will know someone who is affected. That is why the work that The Migraine Trust is doing to improve migraine care, and to end the stigma that still exists around the condition is so important.”
